Goal Mapping
Turn a vague ambition into a plan connected to real people.
Most career advice starts with a job title. Goal Mapping starts with a question: looking ahead, what are you intentionally building toward? That's not a rhetorical opener. It's the actual first step in Virre, and everything else the product does is built on the answer.
Instead of a generic action plan, Goal Mapping produces a living document: what you're working toward, the roles you're aiming for, the skills you need to build, and, the part most planning tools skip, who to connect with to get there.
From a Few Questions to a Full Plan
Goal Mapping starts during onboarding, either from a LinkedIn profile or a few direct questions about your role, company, and focus. From there, Virre builds a plan with seven parts: your vision, the roles you're aiming for, the skills to build, who to connect with, how to be seen and heard, how to reach out, and a roadmap that ties it all into a timeline. Every section is editable, because this is meant to be a working plan, not a one-time report.
The Part Other Planning Tools Miss: Who to Connect With
A generic career plan tells you what to learn and what roles to target. Goal Mapping goes further: it identifies the kind of people who unlock your path, specific relationship types, not just skills, because a plan without the right relationships attached to it stays theoretical. This is also what connects Goal Mapping to the rest of Virre: the goals here directly shape which of your connections get surfaced as priority matches elsewhere in the product.
A Roadmap, Not Just a Document
The output isn't a static PDF, though you can export one. It's a roadmap of milestones, each tagged by category, including networking, career, learning, project, and research, so progress toward a goal is visible over time instead of written down once and forgotten.
How Goal Mapping Connects to the Rest of Virre
Your stated goals feed directly into which connections Virre treats as priority matches, which actions show up in My Actions, and which opportunities get surfaced first. Goal Mapping isn't a standalone planning exercise. It's the input that makes the rest of the product specific to you instead of generic.
FAQs
- Do I need a LinkedIn profile to use Goal Mapping? No. You can build a plan by answering a few direct questions about your role, company, and focus instead.
- Can I change my plan later? Yes. Every section is editable, and the plan is meant to evolve as your goals do, not stay fixed from the day you signed up.
- Does Goal Mapping replace a career coach? No. It's a system for connecting your goals to the people who can move them forward, useful alongside a coach or mentor, not instead of one.
- How is this different from a generic goal-tracking app? Most goal trackers stop at tasks and deadlines. Goal Mapping specifically identifies which relationships are relevant to a goal, which most tools never touch.
